About Southern Health

Southern Health is the
largest metropolitan health service in Victoria and provides comprehensive
primary, secondary and tertiary health care services to people in Melbourne’s
south-east. Our primary catchment area is greater than 2800 square kilometres with a population of more than 750,000. It includes the cities of Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash. Southern Health also provides specialist services to a wide rural catchment that includes Gippsland. We employ 11,000 staff. During the 2006-2007 financial year, we treated more than 162,000 patients in our hospitals and performed 36,562 operations.
