54 South – Neurology:  Monash Medical Centre, Clayton

54 South is a 30 bed Neurosciences area that includes a 4 bed high dependency unit and 1 dedicated epilepsy monitoring bed.  This acute specialty service covers neurosurgery, neurology and stroke and is the only acute service for these specialties within Southern Health.  We accommodate acute, elective and tertiary referral patients, who are a complex variety of patient types with a mix of medical, surgical, high dependency and movement disorders. Our comprehensive epilepsy program and interventional neuro-radiology services also take referrals from interstate.

54 South is dedicated to improve patient focused service delivery and we hold daily multidisciplinary meetings and discharge planning meetings, as well as ensuring communication with families is optimum. Staff are encouraged to contribute to all communication opportunities with families and the team.

North 1:  Acute Medical / Surgical – Dandenong Hospital
