Acute Hospitals

Our acute hospitals include:

Monash Medical Centre Clayton – 634 beds – The largest hospital within Southern Health and one of Victoria’s major teaching and referral hospitals, ranging from neonatal to aged care. It includes one of Melbourne’s busiest and newly renovated Emergency Departments and is the second largest children’s hospital in Victoria.

Monash Medical Centre Moorabbin – 93 beds – A centre for the treatment of cancer including radiotherapy services (through the co-located Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre). Moorabbin is one of our major sites for elective surgery including short stay procedures. It has an emphasis on women’s health and the South East Centre Against Sexual Assault is situated at this site. The Victorian Patient Simulation Centre is one of our excellent education facilities, also located at Moorabbin.

Dandenong Hospital – 520 beds – An acute teaching hospital providing intensive care, maternity services and specialist services to general and trauma patients. Dandenong is increasing its services in elective surgery, medical areas and ICU services. A new high dependency unit has opened at Dandenong.

Casey Hospital – 229 beds – Our newest hospital, featuring modern facilities, opened in late 2004. It provides medical and surgical services, maternity services, rehabilitation, palliative care, renal dialysis and mental health services. It also has a 24-hour a day Emergency Department;

Our aged care, rehabilitation and community health services include:
Kingston Centre – 485 beds – An aged care residential and rehabilitation facility providing health and support services to older people with varied and complex needs in either the inpatient or outpatient setting.

Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre – Has extensive day services, including day surgery and dialysis services. They also provide community health, child and adolescent services, adult and aged mental health services and crisis support services.

Cardinia-Casey and Greater Dandenong Health Services – Promote programs that enhance illness prevention, early prevention and wellness. Their strategies address local, state and national health promotion priorities.
