Southern Health is an integrated Public Hospital and Community Health Service Organisation servicing the population to the south-east of Melbourne. The Service is funded by the Victorian State Government’s Department of Human Services through an Annual Health Services Agreement and specific grants for targeted programs.

The Service is governed by a Board of Directors, which is appointed by the Victorian Minister for Health, on three year terms.

The Board of Directors is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Service, appointing the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management and overseeing the management of the Service. (see Powers and Duties of the Board).
