Medical Program
The Medical Director of the Mental Health Program is the authorising psychiatrist to Southern Health. The Medical Director ensures the safe and best care of all clients managed by the Mental Health Program and compliance with all requirements of the Mental Health Act. The person is the clinical leader who sets, implements and monitors clinical standards, in conjunction with other members of the Mental Health Program executive group. The Medical Director is also a member of the medical executive within Southern Health, advising the Chief Executive on mental health issues and forming linkages across programs. The Medical Director is also responsible for the medical workforce within the Mental Health Program, including the coordination of recruitment, training, accreditation, and staff retention.

Psychology

Consumer and Carer Relations
An experienced team under the leadership of the Director of Consumer and Carer Relations works to ensure that consumers and carers using any of our mental health services are afforded dignity, respect for their life experience and are included in decisions about their health.

Our consumer consultants and carer consultants have themselves had personal experience of the mental health system and provide strong advocacy to ensure the views of consumers and carers are acted upon throughout the Mental Health Program.
