Acute Mental Health Services Acute Mental Health Services comprise inpatient and community-based
components. Emergency psychiatric
services
Community-based acute mental health services are provided
through acute response teams, psychiatric triage and a sub-acute
residential facility. Psychiatric Triage Service
The Psychiatric Triage Service (PTS) is a telephone-based 24-hour,
seven-day point of access to the Mental Health Program – 1300 369 012.
The PTS is the entry point for referrals to Adult and Child and
Adolescent Mental Health Service programs for people to age up to 64
years.
The team also offers after hours support to clients already engaged with
these services and for clients in the 65 + age group. The PTS has the
capacity to mobilise Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)
services and to organise non-urgent mental health program assessment.
Any person, previous client, carer or professional can contact the PTS
to discuss the need for specialist mental health service of persons
residing within the defined geographic region.
Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams

emergency department-based Enhanced Crisis Assessment and Treatment

CATTs provide 24-hour community-based and emergency department-based
assessment and treatment of mental illness, and organise access to acute
psychiatric inpatient units.
Psychiatric Assessment and Recovery Care Service

partnership with the Eastern Regions Mental Health Association to
