About Us

Clinical Haematology is under the auspices of the Medicine Program.  The Unit has two roles (pathology/clinical services) in the hospital network and presently supports four campuses; Clayton, Dandenong, Moorabbin and Casey.

  1. Clinical
    Consultants provide inpatient care, multidisciplinary outpatient clinic services and 24-hour consultative services to the network.


  2. Laboratory
    Consultants and advanced trainee registrars provide Haemato-Pathology services, including Flow Cytometry, to Southern Cross Pathology. 


  3. Haemoglobinopathy Service
    This Service focuses on a diagnostic service and referral centre for Victoria.  The inpatient services are provided by Clinical Haematology.


  4. Research
    Access to a large number of clinical trials is available.  Haemostasis and thrombosis trials are supervised by Associate Professor Eng Gan and based at the Clayton campus.


  5. Malignant haematological trials are available via Associate Professor Andrew Spencer under the auspices of the Myeloma Research Group, Alfred Hospital.
