16 November 2008	Fun Run with Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends	Puffing Billy, Emerald	Paediatric Services	The event is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Emerald Inc. and supported by Variety - The Children’s Charity. In 2007 they presented a cheque for $60,000 to be used to purchase specialist medical equipment for paediatric services across Southern Health. This is the only fun run in the world where children from 0 – 12 years run against Thomas the Tank Engine. It is not a race but at the end of each run the first girl and first boy receive a trophy.
